Aardvark Electrics recognises that implementing an effective Electrical Maintenance Program is no small task for a business owner. That’s why we offer a comprehensive planned preventative maintenance package which includes a wide range of scheduled testing to ensure our clients comply with current legislation in the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
Testing and Tagging
In accordance with AS3760, portable equipment is to remain safe and functional in the workplace. Testing and tagging in accordance with the standard has specific documentation requirements and the results act as an efficient and effective asset management tool.
RCD Inspection and Testing
A residual current device (RCD) is an electrical safety device that helps to prevent electrical injuries and fatalities. The current legislation requires “a person having control of a workplace, must provide where electricity is supplied to portable equipment through a fixed socket, protection against earth leakage current by means of RCDs and ensure that each RCD installed at the workplace is kept in a safe working condition and tested on a regular basis.”
Aardvark Electrics are committed to ensuring that all our clients’ premises meet the legislative requirements. If it is found that protection is not adequate on a particular premise then an installation program can be developed.
As required by legislation you must make sure that RCDs used at work are tested regularly to ensure they are working effectively. Aardvark Electrics controls and monitors the inspection and testing requirements of clients.
Exit/Emergency Lighting Inspection and Testing
In order to comply with the Building Code of Australia exit signs must be installed on, above or adjacent to each door providing direct egress. As defined in AS/NZS 2293, it is a requirement that buildings have emergency evacuation lighting systems in a state of readiness for operation at all times. Both exit signs and emergency lighting are required to be regularly tested on a six monthly basis. Those units which fail the test will be either repaired and restored to normal condition or replaced.
Thermographic Switchboard Surveys
Aardvark Electrics can use a thermal heat sensitive imaging camera to check for potential ‘hot-spots’ in your switchboard. By carrying out regular Thermographic check-ups these ‘hot-spots’ can be repaired which will reduce downtime that may be experienced if a fault is left to cause greater heat or fire damage.
Planned Lighting Inspections
Aardvark can provide regular lighting inspections and repair for warehouse and shop lighting. A Planned Lighting Maintenance Programme will:
• Reduce labour costs
• Reduce cost of lamps through purchasing in larger quantities
• Produce higher light levels over the life of the lighting system
• Generate lighting upgrade opportunities such as reduced-output energy saving lamps
• Ensure proper inspection and upkeep of lighting system
